Controller card with the Aralion chipset is supported under linux kernel 2.4 with a driver found on www.aralion.com website. No support for kernel 2.6 is planned however. The 2.4 driver is free, however registration is required.

Presumably this means that the driver is ‘free’, but not open source.
Yes. The driver is no cost, but not GPL licensed.
