Notes: Although a java application is provided to transfer songs to/from the player via ethernet, there is no driver provided for Linux users to make use of the USB 2.0 interface resulting in much slower transfer times (which makes a big difference since the Karma has a 20GB HDD).
Comments (this is where other people comment on the entry):
There is a project currently (JULY-2006) working on a full read/write solution for transferring music and Rio taxi files. See http://linux-karma.sourceforge.net/ for more information. the LibKarma code allows one to copy between Linux and the Rio Karma using USB2 using the command “riocp”.

(Has been found to work with much earlier 2.6 kernels, if you locate the java based rmmlite.jar package - a “lite” version of the original windows based rmm app. As long as you have java installed. I can’t say whether the rmmlite.jar is still available, as I had my copy since Sept 05 (from the original Rio site) and have had few/no problems using under various distros)
