Comments:

There is an opensource driver for the RTL8180 now. Its still in alpha but it works. http://sourceforge.net/projects/rtl8180-sa2400 It even works with Kismet. - W8TVI leenooks.c.w8tvi@neverbox.com

Does not work with some Mini-PCI cards using this chip.

Ndiswrapper works perfectly with this card. Had it running flawlessly for 1.5 yrs.

ok, so, as far as I know I have rtl8185, mandriva 2006 did not detect it at all (lspci gave some results), even with ndiswrapper the card was not going to start on Mepis 6 (I changes recently) it works at 100%, it worked with kernel 2.6.15, and works with 2.6.18, there’re drivers for linux kernel at realtek homepage, both for rtl8180 and 8185 write me at blackest at o2 dot pl if some problems

Update: there is a fork for the driver, see http://rtl-wifi.sf.net
