Highpoint HPT370 PCI IDE Controller (not HPT370A!)

Hardware That Doesn't Work with Linux

The Highpoint HPT370 PCI IDE Controller only works without DMA.

The problem has been observed on 2.6.18 through 2.6.20-rc4 (including with the rewritten HPT3xx code in 2.6.20-rc-mm1). DMA on this controller reportedly worked until 2.4.18, but I’m unable to compile such a kernel to confirm this.

Please note that the HPT370A chipset does not appear to suffer from this problem (designation according to the marking on the chip itself). The developer of the driver has such a chip and DMA works fine for him.
