Fuji Finepix

Hardware That Doesn't Work with Linux

Manufacturer: Fuji

Model number: F401

Functionality (from 0 to 100% of full functionality):

0% as a webcam, 100% as a Digital Camera

Contact (your email): duke586@hotmail.com

Notes:

While it works perfectly as a Digital Camera (and makes very good pictures, too), it isn’t usable as a webcam (Windows only). Mine is the F401, but I guess this also concerns other FinePix models.

In fact, there is a driver being worked on:

http://finepix.sourceforge.net/

But there hasn’t been a release for about two years…

However, Fuji seems to be unwilling to reveil the details of their webcam:

Comments (this is where other people comment on the entry):

Well, so it was, until now. The wonderful Frank Zago has developed a V4L/V4L2-driver which works like a charm (I’d to use the CVS version for the FinePix F401). http://www.zago.net/v4l2/finepix/ - duke586@hotmail.com
