Comments (this is where other people comment on the entry):

Hey….

According to the ALSA website, the AD1980 chipset is supported using the (common) ac97 codec. I would suggest doing some reading and trying again.

He’s right…

I have the same chipset and it works perfectly with the Alsa’s AC97 codec.

I have a A7V600 with AD 1980 and it works with ac97. It has some bugs, but works pretty good most of the time.

Also try the Intel i810_audio driver, which works with ac97 devices. On one motherboard I have, the audio chipset is really SIS, and it almost works correctly with the ac97 driver, but works flawlessly with

the i810_audio + ac97_codec + sound + soundcore modules.

Works here!

This page is totally wrong. I am writing this from my machine running on A7266-MX and Ubuntu 6.06. Sound works perfectly fine and I have had no issues so far.
