Firewire

Hardware That Doesn't Work with Linux

All Firewire audio devices

Manufacturer: Prolific Technologies

Model number:

Chipset: PL-3507

PCI id:

Reason: Firmware updates pulled from website. Won't work at all without them.

Brokeness (1 to 10 with 10 meaning it works perfectly): 1 without firmware updates and 5 with them

Bugzilla # for kernel bugs database: none

Notes: I find it impossible to use Prolific's support website because it won't let me obtain a login. Although their later chipset revisions may work better, I feel that my best advice is to avoid buying anything with this chipset in it. I found equivalently priced drive enclosures using the Oxford 911 chipset and the one I bought worked absolutely perfectly.
